Home highlights 5-6 specific species (including Pro):
Record any tree. Daily limit 3 for standard, unlimited for Pro.
These features are still in testing and are not in the current live app. The new home screen adds just one banner at the top for the tree with the most public, valid check-ins this month. Ties go to the tree checked in most recently. The existing missions and other sections stay below it in the same order. Tap the banner to find that tree on the map.
The new Specimen Album replaces the Dex tab. Browse and search all species from Species Overview inside the album. Each tree you record has one card: the front shows only your own photos, adding a tile with each revisit; the back shows the tree's growth stage (growth rings), your visit count, your tree handshakes, and photos from other explorers. Sort your album by recency, visits, or scientific name.
You can record the same tree again on a different local date, including a spot you created. You cannot record it twice on the same day, and at least 12 hours must have passed since your previous visit. You must still be near the tree. Recording any tree again is a Revisit worth 5 pts and 0 rpt. It is not counted as an Echo and does not create a tree handshake or unlock the Echo badge. Only your first record of another player's tree is an Echo: you and its pioneer shake hands under the tree, and each of you sees the other, with their photo of the tree, on the back of your cards. Later revisits add photos only to your own card's front. A delayed photo reaches the other player only after it becomes public; notifications are grouped weekly, never sent instantly. The album and revisits do not require Pro, and there is no player leaderboard.
Each public, active check-in that is not a hint point adds one Growth Ring to the tree. Growth Rings represent observations left by the community, not the tree's real age. They appear on the monthly home highlight, map tree cards, and specimen cards. Ten titles mark its progress: Baby Tree, Sapling, New Shoot, Growing Tree, Young Tree, Flourishing Tree, Great Tree, Old Tree, Ancient Tree, and Sacred Tree. A delayed check-in adds its ring only after it becomes public.
Record any valid check-in during a week (Monday to Sunday, by your local date) and that week gets a stamp. Pioneer, Seed, Echo, and Revisit check-ins all count. Your Me page shows how many weeks you stamped this year and your current streak; a week off never resets your yearly total. Reaching 4, 12, 26, and 52 weeks in one year unlocks the badges A Month of Footsteps, Witness of a Season, Half a Year in the Woods, and A Whole Year of Trees. Delayed check-ins count toward badges only after they become public. If you turn on "Make my journal public", other players can see your stamps too (public check-ins only).
